The Planning Section prepares and disseminates a wide variety of water quality based educational materials and information. In addition, the Section serves as a clearinghouse of similar materials that have been provided to the Section but developed elsewhere by federal, state or local organizations.

Examples of topics which the Section develops as educational materials include the importance and variety of shoreline vegetation, local planning and zoning for surface water quality protection, measures to control land runoff, statewide, basin specific and individual waterbody water quality assessment reports, listings of priority waters and inventories of grant-funded water quality planning or improvement projects.
